Artificial implants are used during the operation to replace some of the hip joint. A ball (located at the top of the femur, also known as the thigh bone), and a socket (located in the pelvis, also known as the hip bone), make up the hip joint. One or both portions of the hip might be replaced during surgery to replace it. Your ability to continue everyday activities and engage in physical activity with reduced pain is the procedure's main objective. Your doctor may first suggest further therapies such joint injections, walking aids, painkillers for inflammation or pain, and physical therapy. Hip replacement surgery can be required to restore function and enhance quality of life if the above therapies are ineffective in reducing pain and stiffness. Both the ball and socket are replaced during complete hip arthroplasty.
