Knee replacement surgery is a routine surgery that replaces a damaged, worn, or diseased knee with an artificial joint. Adults of any age can be considered for knee replacements, although most are performed on people in their 60s and 80s. More people are now having this surgery at a younger age. An artificial knee joint usually lasts more than 20 years, especially if the new knee is well cared for and not subjected to too much stress.
